Final Fiesta Battle For R5 Prize Drive

Final Fiesta Battle For R5 Prize Drive

Seven drivers will face a final end of season challenge next week as the Drive DMACK Fiesta Shoot-Out finalists do battle for a one-off FIA World Rally Championship drive in a Ford Fiesta R5.

The contenders, chosen from across the five Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy rounds, will undertake a range of assessments at M-Sport’s UK base before the winner is selected by M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson and DMACK boss Dick Cormack.

After the initial Trophy was oversubscribed, the Shoot Out was introduced to allow private drivers to compete alongside the Trophy regulars on individual events to gauge their pace. They used control DMACK tyres and met all the series regulations – with a winner chosen from each round to go through to the final.

The finalists include Dutch drivers Kevin van Deijne, Mats van den Brand and Timo van der Marel along with Hugo Arellano from Luxembourg. They are joined by Max Vatanen, who gains automatic entry as winner of the Rookie award in the Trophy, along with two wildcards selected by series organisers. Ralfs Sirmacis is the first wildcard after his stunning performance at Rally Poland and is joined by the UK’s Tom Cave who finished runner-up in the Trophy on his first full season in the WRC.

They will undergo physical, mental and media assessments on Wednesday 3rd December before their driving skills are scrutinised by current DMACK driver Ott Tänak the following day.

The winner will receive a prize drive on one round of the WRC 2 in next season’s championship using a Ford Fiesta R5 rally car in the Drive DMACK team.
